From the Guidance Officers 

Robertson State School is serviced this semester by two Guidance Officers, Emma Yates (Years 3 – 6) and Donna Riches (Prep – Year 2). 

The Guidance Officer’s main services include:  

• Consultation/collaboration with parents, teachers and other relevant stakeholders to meet the needs of children 
• Assessing children – to give greater understanding of their abilities and educational program needs  
• Outside agency communication with GPs, Specialists (as supported by parents) 
• Counselling (initial/short term only and referral to outside services for ongoing support if needed)

Access to the Guidance Officer is by teacher referral through the Student Support Services Team (SSS). This team meets fortnightly to discuss referred students and prioritise based on their immediate needs and the workload of the Guidance Officers.
